Two Unrestrained Drivers Killed in Livingston Parish Crash

Maurepas – Shortly after 10:00 pm on June 11, 2020, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 22 east of LA Hwy 16 in Livingston Parish. The crash claimed the lives of 50-year-old Loyd Fletcher of Maurepas and 53-year-old Tina Lanoux of Gonzales.
The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Lanoux was traveling westbound on LA Hwy 22 in a 2005 Nissan Xterra. At the same time, Fletcher was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of LA Hwy 22 in a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, which resulted in the Chevrolet striking the Nissan head-on.

Lanoux was unrestrained at the time of the crash. She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Fletcher was also unrestrained and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Routine toxicology samples were taken from Lanoux and Fletcher, and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that while not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
