**UPDATE** Louisiana State Police Investigating Scott Police Officer-Involved Shooting

On Saturday, March 2, 2024, shortly before 10:00 p.m., officers with the Scott Police Department were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Angler Drive in reference to a domestic disturbance.  Upon arrival, officers encountered a subject armed with a knife. In response, an officer attempted to utilize a Taser, but the deployment was ineffective. A second officer then fired his duty weapon, striking the armed subject.

The subject was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured during this incident.

Lafayette City Metro Forensics Unit assisted Louisiana State Police investigators with processing the scene. 

Louisiana State Police (LSP) was requested to investigate this officer-involved shooting. Lafayette Metro Crime Scene assisted Louisiana State Police investigators with processing the scene, and investigators are working diligently to gather further information.
