Speed Suspected Factor in Union Parish Fatal Crash
Union Parish- On Saturday, April 8, 2023, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash which occurred on Louisiana Highway 33 north of Louisiana Highway 151.  This crash claimed the life of 20-year-old Christopher B. Moore of Farmerville.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 GMC Sierra, driven by Moore, was traveling south on Louisiana Highway 33.  For reasons still under investigation, the GMC exited the roadway and impacted several trees and then overturned.

Moore, who was restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Union Parish Coroner’s Office.

A toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis.  This crash remains under investigation.

While the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, Troopers want to remind motorists that speeding increases the likelihood of losing control of the vehicle and increases the stopping distance.  Speeding also decreases the effectiveness of seat belts and airbags.

In 2023, Troop F has investigated 11 fatal crashes resulting in 12 fatalities.
