Repeat Offender Arrested on Charges Related to Human Trafficking

East Baton Rouge Parish - On March 14th, 2024, the Louisiana State Police Special Victim’s Unit (LSP SVU), in collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), carried out an undercover operation at a local Baton Rouge hotel. This operation led to the apprehension of 28-year-old Kevontae J. Reed of Baker on charges related to human trafficking and indecent behavior with a juvenile. Additionally, a human trafficking victim was successfully rescued.

As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained through the 19th Judicial District Court, charging Reed with Human Trafficking and Indecent Behavior With Juveniles. Reed was placed under arrest and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center on the aforementioned charges. Investigators also discovered that Reed is a repeat offender, and has a history of involvement in human trafficking offenses. This case is currently ongoing and being actively investigated.
