Rayville Councilwoman Criminally Charged After Louisiana State Police Investigation
Richland Parish– On January 10, 2023, the Rayville Police Department (RPD) contacted Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Monroe Field Office (LSP MFO) to investigate a complaint. The complaint was in reference to an alleged physical altercation involving a Rayville City Councilwoman, identified as 53-year-old Deborah James, and the threatening of RPD Officers. Upon the Officers’ arrival at a private residence, James verbally threatened them with loss of employment if she was arrested.
As a result of the investigation and information obtained, LSP MFO secured an arrest warrant and charged James earlier today. She was charged with simple battery of persons with infirmities and public intimidation. She was booked into the Richland Parish Jail. RPD assisted with the investigation.
The Louisiana State Police will serve as the lead investigative agency. The investigation remains active and ongoing. There is no further information available at this time.
