Port Sulphur – On Saturday in the early morning hours, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash on LA 23 in the southern part of Plaquemines Parish. The crash claimed the life of 52-year-old Anthony Burros of Port Sulphur.

The preliminary investigation revealed Burros was traveling southbound on LA 23 near 21215 LA 23 in a 2002 Toyota Tundra. For reasons which are unknown but still under investigation, the Tundra ran off the road to the left, crossed the median and both northbound lanes of LA 23 and struck a tree. Burros was transported to a local area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. As part of an ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample will be obtained following an autopsy. This crash remains under investigation and there is no additional information at this time.

While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.

Troop B has investigated 11 fatal crashes resulting in 12 deaths in 2021.
