Ponchatoula - Yesterday morning, shortly after 10:00 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a three-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 22 near West Timberlane Drive in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash claimed the life of 59-year-old Andrew Monistere of Ponchatoula.

The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Monistere, was westbound on LA Hwy 22. At the same time, a 2022 Chevrolet Camaro and a 2022 Ford F-250 were both eastbound on LA Hwy 22. The 2022 Chevrolet Camaro was directly in front of the Ford.  For reasons still under investigation, the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro traveled across the centerline directly into the path of the eastbound vehicles. To avoid a collision, the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro traveled off of the roadway to the right and into a ditch. The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro then struck the Ford head-on.

Monistere was unrestrained and sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital before he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro was properly restrained and was uninjured. The driver of the Ford was also properly restrained and sustained moderate injuries. The driver of the Ford was transported to a local hospital. This crash remains under investigation.
