Pedestrian Succumbs to Injuries from Vehicle Crash in Ouachita Parish
West Monroe – On Friday March 10, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a one-vehicle pedestrian crash which occurred on Louisiana Highway 34 at Winks Lane.  This crash claimed the life of 35-year-old Kasey R. Coleman.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Coleman was walking in the roadway when she was struck by a 2022 Toyota Avalon driving north on Louisiana Highway 34.  Coleman was transported to a local hospital for injuries she sustained due to the crash.  Routine toxicology samples were submitted for analysis.  This crash remains under investigation.

On March 11, 2023 Troop F was notified that Kasey R. Coleman succumbed to her injuries sustained from the crash.

Although the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, Troopers would like to remind the public of the following: Pedestrians should make themselves visible to drivers by wearing bright/light-colored clothing and reflective materials.  Pedestrians should always walk on a sidewalk, but if no sidewalk is available, they should walk as close to the roadway edge and face traffic.  If pedestrians walk at night, they should carry a flashlight for added safety.

In 2023, Troop F has investigated eight fatal crashes, which have resulted in nine fatalities.
