Pedestrian Killed in Livingston Parish Hit and Run Crash
Independence – Shortly before 9:00 pm on November 9, 2020, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian on LA Hwy 43 north of LA Hwy 442 in Livingston Parish. The crash took the life of 18-year-old Chevy Hare of Independence.

The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Hare was walking southbound on LA Hwy 43. While Hare was walking, he was struck by an unknown vehicle. After striking Hare, this vehicle fled the crash scene.

Hare sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Hare for analysis.

Troopers are now asking for your assistance in locating the hit and run vehicle and driver. Troopers urge anyone with any information regarding this crash to contact Louisiana State Police Troop A at 225-754-8500.
