Motorcyclist Killed in Calcasieu Parish Crash
Westlake – On March 30, 2023, shortly after 9:30 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Interstate 210 in Calcasieu Parish. The crash claimed the life of 51-year-old Norman Troy Malbrough of Lake Charles.

The initial investigation revealed a 2019 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Malbrough, was traveling east on the I-210 on ramp from I-10. While traveling east, the left foot peg on the motorcycle struck the concrete guardrail several times, which caused Malbrough to be ejected from the motorcycle.

Malbrough, who was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A toxicology sample was obtained from Malbrough and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses teach safe riding practices and help you apply safe riding strategies that can help reduce your chance of injury should a crash occur. Making good choices while riding a motorcycle, such as never driving while impaired and obeying all traffic laws, can often mean the difference between life and death.
