Motorcyclist Dies in Livingston Parish Crash

Denham Springs – Shortly after 8:30 pm on July 8, 2020, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle on LA Hwy 1025 (Arnold Rd.) at the intersection of LA Hwy 16 in Livingston Parish. The crash claimed the life of 58-year-old Jean Chedester of Walker.

The preliminary investigation revealed the crash occurred as Chedester was traveling westbound on LA Hwy 1025 on a 2016 Harley Davidson Trike. As the Harley Davidson approached the intersection of LA Hwy 16, Chedester failed to negotiate a left turn and struck the median of LA Hwy 16. After striking the median, the Harley Davison overturned and exited the right side of the roadway.

Despite the fact she was wearing a DOT approved helmet, Chedester sustained serious injuries. She was transported to a local hospital, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Chedester for analysis.

Troopers encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses teach safe riding practices and help you apply safe riding strategies that can help reduce your chance of injury should a crash occur. Making good choices while riding a motorcycle, such as never driving while impaired and obeying all traffic laws, can often mean the difference between life and death.
