Motorcyclist Dies in East Baton Rouge Parish Crash

Baton Rouge – Shortly after 6:00 am on August 6, 2020, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle on the Interstate 10 Service Road east of LA Hwy 3246 (Siegen Ln.) in East Baton Rouge Parish. The crash claimed the life of 33-year-old Nicholas Tanzini of Chino Hills, CA.

The preliminary investigation revealed the crash occurred as Tanzini was traveling westbound on the I-10 Service Road on a 2006 Harley Davidson. For reasons still under investigation, the Harley Davidson exited the roadway to the left. After exiting the roadway, the Harley Davidson struck a concrete wall, which resulted in Tanzini being ejected from the motorcycle.

Despite the fact he was wearing a DOT approved helmet, Tanzini sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced deceased on the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Tanzini for analysis.

Troopers encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses teach safe riding practices and help you apply safe riding strategies that can help reduce your chance of injury should a crash occur. Making good choices while riding a motorcycle, such as never driving while impaired and obeying all traffic laws, can often mean the difference between life and death.
