Lake Providence Man Arrested for Second Degree Murder

Lake Providence – On Friday, March 4, 2022, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations Monroe Field Office (LSP MFO) was requested by the East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office (ECPSO), to investigate a homicide that occurred on Harding Street, inside the city limits of Lake Providence. Detectives from LSP MFO responded to the scene to investigate the incident. As a result of the investigation, 41-year-old Albert James of Lake Providence was arrested for second degree murder.

The initial investigation revealed that James became involved in an altercation with the victim, identified as 41-year-old Monique Jackson. The altercation occurred at a residence on Harding Street. This incident ultimately resulted in James shooting Jackson, which resulted in her death.

Based on the findings of the investigation and information obtained, James was placed under arrest and booked into Riverbend Detention Center for Second Degree Murder.

LSP MFO will serve as the lead investigating agency and processed the scene for evidence. ECPSO is assisting with this incident. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further information is available, at this time.
