Homer Man Arrested for Second Degree Murder

Homer – Yesterday afternoon, Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations Bossier Field Office (LSP BFO) was requested by Homer Police Department to investigate a homicide that occurred on Oil Mill Street, inside the city limits of Homer. Detectives from LSP BFO responded to the scene to investigate the incident. As a result of the investigation, 69-year-old Jerry Glyn Williams of Homer was arrested for second degree murder.

The initial investigation revealed that Williams became involved in an altercation with the victim, identified as 64-year-old Johnny Lee Gilbert. The altercation occurred at Gilbert’s residence on Oil Mill Street. This incident ultimately resulted in Williams shooting Gilbert, which resulted in his death.

As a result of the investigation and information obtained, Williams was placed under arrest and booked into the Claiborne Parish Jail.

LSP BFO will serve as the lead investigating agency. The LSP Crime Lab processed the scene for evidence. Homer Police Department and Claiborne Parish Sheriff’s Office are assisting. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further information is available, at this time.
