Holden – On September 24, 2023, shortly before 8:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of LA 441 and Herman Hutchinson Road in Livingston Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 57-year-old Tracy Gauthier of Holden.

The initial investigation revealed that a Mahindra 5005 DI Tractor operated by Gauthier was traveling north on LA 441.   At the same time, a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling behind the farm tractor.  For reasons still being investigated, the Malibu struck the rear end of the farm tractor and Gauthier was ejected.

Gauthier, who was not restrained at the time of the crash, was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.  The driver of the Malibu was restrained and was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.  This crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Troopers remind motorists that making good choices while in motor vehicles such as always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, not driving impaired, and not being distracted behind the wheel can often mean the difference between life and death. Crashes occur in fractions of a second and many lives are forever changed. Please remember that motor vehicle crashes are preventable and good decisions behind the wheel help prevent injuries and deaths from occurring.
