Harvey Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Iberville Parish

Plaquemine – Shortly before 5:00 a.m. on March 21, 2024, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA 405 just north of Troxclair Drive in Iberville Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 20-year-old Raydell Estrada of Harvey.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Estrada was traveling northbound on LA 405 in a 2007 Dodge Ram. For unknown reasons, Estrada failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and lost control of the vehicle. The Ram traveled off the roadway and overturned.
Estrada, who was properly restrained, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

On Monday, March 25, 2024, Troopers were notified that Estrada succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. While impairment was not suspected, standard toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis.

While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being severely injured or killed in a crash. Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Properly wearing your seat belt is one of the most effective ways to save your life and reduce injuries in crashes.
