Former Union Parish Deputy Arrested for Simple Battery and Malfeasance

 

Farmerville – In October 2023, Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Monroe Field Office (LSP BOI MFO) Investigators were contacted by Union Parish Sheriff’s Office in reference to a use-of-force complaint involving an on-duty deputy.  According to the provided information, 22-year-old Brady Byrnes of Bernice used excessive force on a non-combative subject, who was handcuffed behind his back. 

As a result of information obtained during the investigation, LSP BOI MFO secured an arrest warrant for Byrnes for malfeasance in office and simple battery.  On March 6, 2024, Byrnes was booked into the Union Parish Detention Center without incident.

Louisiana State Police will serve as the lead investigative agency.  The investigation remains active and ongoing.  There is no further information available at this time.
