Fatal Motorcycle Crash Claims the Life of Texas Man in Webster Parish

MindenOn Saturday, September 16, 2023, shortly before 1:00 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash involving a motorcycle on I-20 eastbound just east of the Dixie Inn Exit. This crash claimed the life of 53-year-old Kris Moore of Longview.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2021 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by Moore, was traveling east on I-20. For reasons still under investigation, Moore failed to maintain control, exited the roadway to the left, and struck a guardrail.

As a result of this crash, Moore, who was wearing a DOT approved helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Webster Parish Coroner’s Office. Although impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses teach safe riding practices and help you apply safe riding strategies that can help reduce your chance of injury should a crash occur. Anyone interested in attending motorcycle safety courses can go to https://www.lsp.org/services/training/motorcycle-safety/ for more information. Making good choices while riding a motorcycle, such as never driving while impaired and obeying all traffic laws, can often mean the difference between life and death.

In 2023, Troop G has investigated 17 fatal crashes, resulting in 17 deaths.
