Driver Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Lincoln Parish Crash

Choudrant– On Monday, April 1, 2024, shortly after 8:00 a.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on I-20 east of LA-145.  The crash claimed the life of 47-year-old Thomas Rogers of Crestview, Florida.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2016 Ram 1500, driven by Rogers, was traveling east on I-20.  For reasons still under investigation, the Ram exited the roadway to the right and overturned.

Rogers was properly restrained but received serious injuries.  He was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.  Routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis.  This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle.  Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted.  Follow all traffic laws and always ensure that every occupant is properly restrained.  While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.

In 2024, Troop F has investigated nine fatal crashes, resulting in ten deaths.
