Baton Rouge – This morning, shortly before 2:00 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 30 near Ben Hur Road in East Baton Rouge Parish. The crash claimed the life of 29-year-old Jordan Whitley of Laplace.

The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Whitley was eastbound on LA Hwy 30 in a 2019 Ford Mustang. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford traveled off of the roadway to the left and impacted several trees.

Despite being properly restrained, Whitley sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Whitley was pronounced deceased on the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Whitley for analysis.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued or distracted, follow all traffic laws and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
