Richland Parish – On June 9, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 132 near Old Alto Road.  The crash claimed the life of 30-year-old Alexis M. Berry.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2007 Dodge Durango, driven by Berry, was traveling east on Louisiana Highway 132.  For reasons still under investigation, Berry failed to slow down and rear-ended an eastbound commercial vehicle.

Berry, who was restrained, sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. Two additional juvenile passengers in the Durango, who were not restrained, sustained moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital. The driver of the commercial vehicle, who was restrained, sustained no injuries. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis.

While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, distracted and inattentive driving continues to be a leading cause of crashes in our state.  Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to stay alert while driving.  A lapse in one’s awareness can have deadly consequences.

In 2023, Troop F Troopers have investigated 16 fatal crashes resulting in 17 fatalities.
