Calhoun Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash

Ouachita Parish – On Thursday, January 4, 2024, shortly before 5:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on LA-151 near LA-837.  The crash claimed the life of 37-year-old William Collins of Calhoun.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Honda Odyssey, driven by Collins, was traveling south on LA-151.  For reasons still under investigation, the Honda exited the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned.

Collins, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Although impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis.  This crash remains under investigation.

Stay safe on the road by always driving attentively and without impairment.  Avoid distractions, such as texting, eating, or using your phone, and remain focused on the task at hand.  Also, never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs (prescribed or illicit).  Making responsible choices while driving can save lives and prevent tragedies.

In 2024, Troop F has investigated one fatal crash, resulting in one death.
