Baton Rouge Man Killed in West Feliciana Parish Crash

St. Francisville – Shortly after 2:00 am on July 9, 2020, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash on US Hwy 61 north of LA Hwy 66 in West Feliciana Parish. The crash took the life of 47-year-old Jimmy Blount of Baton Rouge.

The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Blount was traveling southbound on US Hwy 61 in a 2020 Ford F-150. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford ran off the roadway to the right and struck an embankment. After striking the embankment, the vehicle overturned.

Blount was properly restrained at the time of the crash; however, he sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Blount for analysis.

Motorists should always be cognizant of their surroundings and obey posted traffic control signs. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and obeying all traffic laws can often mean the difference between life and death
