Basile Man Dies in Fiery Crash in Allen Parish
Allen Parish – On November 22, 2022, shortly after 6:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a two-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 26 about 2 miles south of LA Hwy 104 in Allen Parish. The crash claimed the life of 65-year-old Glen Ray Thompson of Basile.

The initial investigation revealed a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 39-year-old Catrina Leann Lejeune of Oberlin, was traveling north on LA 26. At the same time, a 2001 GMC pickup truck, driven by Thompson, was traveling south on LA 26. The driver of the Chevrolet crossed the centerline and struck the GMC on the left front quarter panel. After the initial impact, both vehicles traveled off the roadway and the GMC became engulfed in flames.

Thompson, who was properly restrained, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Lejeune was not properly restrained and sustained minor injuries. Toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Distracted and inattentive driving continues to be a leading cause of crashes in our state. Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to stay alert while driving. More information on distracted driving may be found online at www.distraction.gov.
