Reserve Program
The State Police established a reserve program in the latter part of 1999. On May 24, 2000 the Department formally
installed the program by inducting 125 members. The ceremony was held at the Old State Capitol where Governor Mike
Foster addressed the Reservists. The Reserve Unit was transferred to the Patrol Division in 2000. Members
assist the State Police in both daily operations and emergency situations primarily at the Troop level.
While the Reserve Program primarily consists of retired State Police commissioned personnel, the program was established
with three levels. Level One consists of commissioned and civilian retirees who wish to participate in the program in
a social capacity. Level Two consists of commissioned and civilian retirees who wish to contribute their time to fulfill
specific Department needs. Level Three, which has not yet been established, will consist of retired commissioned members
who wish to participate in duties related to Patrol functions.
