Kentwood – This morning, shortly before 9:30 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 1057 near Pittman Road in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash claimed the life of 70-year-old Samuel Raborn of Kentwood.

The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Raborn was northbound on LA Hwy 1057 in a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. For reasons still under investigation, the Chevrolet traveled off of the roadway to the right and struck an embankment.

Despite being properly restrained, Raborn sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Raborn for analysis.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted, follow all traffic laws, and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
